i was thinking if our prophet s.a.w did not do such a practise, would it not come under a new invovation??? we're suposed to avoid new inovation correct? im not 100% sure please clarify

It isn't actually an innovation at all! There is no benefit in simply hanging the ayaat of the Qur'an on the wall. The benefit comes when one's gaze falls upon the ayaat and one is reminded. The end result is the benefit, not the means. So, if you are like everyone else and need reminders to be reminded of Allah, then you may hang these ayaat in prominent areas. Some people even have some du'as as well as some ayaat hanging on their rear-view mirrors in their cars. They are not for decoration, but for reminding the driver as well as the passengers to say the du'a or remember Allah.

Do you listen to Islamic lectures on the radio or Internet? Well, is that a bid'ah? Of course not. It only becomes a bid'ah when you say that the means are of any benefit (i.e. saying that you get thawab for listening to a lecture on the Internet compared to listening one live) and not the result (i.e. the lecture itself). Similarly, the hanging up of the ayaat is not a bid'ah unless you say that merely hanging the ayaat brings thawab.
