Asaalamualaykum I am new to this forum. I'm not sure where To post so I'm posting here(I'm new to forums lol). so basically I would really apreciate some HELP and advise from fellow Muslims. I have been a Muslim all my life, but since I was young I gave no real attention to Islam or islamic education, my family would obviously telling me stuff here and their I learned how to read Quran etc in my local mosque and how to pray( basics evry Muslim knows) I left mosque at 15, at the time I wS the average kid, I was always outside with friends etc. Or playing games. As with most kids probably I hated going school and for that matter even mosque. Evry day after school we went mosque where we sat for an hour and a half reciting Quran and then the imam wud test us, hit us lol. I didn't like going when I was 15 I finally left. I was so caught up in other things I never really looked into Islam too much. Back then mosque education was simple ie learn to recite and with the ustadh hu beat u up with his stick lol. So I Neva learned too much about the deen. At school I messed about Alot and even got kicked out of a sixth form so I had to start the year later. I regret wasting so much to time playing useless video games, engaging in haram activities with friends. I'm now in uni and basically taken a year out becuz of family reasons. Now the family problem has gone and I have lots of spare time other than looking for a job I'm not doing much. But I over the last 4 months I've been learning Alot about islam watching speeches online of people like shayk riyad ul haq. And I learnt Alot, I also read books on the life of the prophet and ALOT of scholars and companions and was amazed with how great Islam is and how amazing our prophet peace be upon him is. For the last 3 months I have been trying to consistently pray 5 times prayers. This was a huge step for me becuz b4 I didn't even read juma and would avoid the mosque. One of the things I am really concerned about learning how to read the quran correctly. A friend told me that if u cannot recite with tajweed then u r sinful and that your prayers are not accepted. Now the way I learned originally was more of an Urdu way, the way they taught us to pronounce the Arabic letters. And we wasn't taught to make any difference in pronouncing for example alif and ayn, or the two ha letters. I was wondering if any 1 here know a place where I could learn correctly from Bradford? I know Bradford is filled with mosques lol but I'm 20 and was wondering if anywhere they hold classes for adults becuz i really need this preferably nee town centre as I don't live in Bradford and will take a train their as my local mosque dnt teach adults and the main imam is off for a while. I would really appreciate the help. If sum1 cud find a place for adults where I can learn the quran correctly preferably in Bradford centre (bd1/2/3) thus would be a huge help jaazaa kallah
