Firstly, it depends what we base our judgement of 'strictness' on, and what we would call 'strict' is definitely arbitrary. Having said that, I would say that the Maliki madh'hab definitely is not the strictest, and it is in the spirit of the Maliki madh'hab to keep things natural.


I've once read on this forum that Malikis are very particular about leather. It has to be skin from a halal animal slaughtered in the Islamic way. If true, you will never see a Maliki wearing crocodile shoes while other Muslims wear any kind of leather except pigskin... that is pretty strict to me.
