My understanding of Tajweed is very, very limited, but what I'm about to explain to you is correct, as I recently learned just the same from a qualified Hafiz & Qari.

A good way to understand "ikhfa" (which is being done in this instance) is that if you make the MINNNNNN sound, half the sound will be coming out through your mouth, the other half through your nose. So if you start saying MINNNNNNN and as you are saying it, hold your nose closed, the sound will still keep coming out through your mouth.

When it comes to Ghunnah (which is NOT being done in this instance), you will say MINNNN (emphasizing the N sound) to where the entire "NNN" sound will travel up through your nose. In this instance, if you hold your nose closed while saying MINNNN, the sound will suddenly stop, since all of it was coming out through your nasal area, and none through your mouth.

Please listen to many different recitations of this and any other Surah you wish to improve your tajweed on, and pay very, very close attention to the sounds and try to imagine in your mind what I just explained to you above. Also get with a local Hafiz and/or the Imam from your masjid if possible and Insha'Allah they would be happy to explain these and other rules of tajweed to you.

JazakAllah and .
