Thank you for the replies here. What qualifies a man to have these 72 women? Is there an example in 2011 of an act carried out(martyrdom). The majority of so called acts of martyrdom that kill and injure many innocent people including muslims.

Also what is in store for a female martyr?
The 72 women are given to the martyr i.e. someone who has died fighting jihad. If you want to see an act of martyrdom, then take the example of the three Muslims who were killed in Birmingham whilst defending homes and businesses during the riots. They are martyrs,

A female martyr is probably going to receive all the rewards of a male martyr I am assuming except for the women perhaps. If someone could correct me if I'm wrong, I would appreciate it. The rewards of the martyr are many; he does not face the trial of the grave, he has security on the Day of Judgement, he has his sins forgiven before the first drop of blood hits the ground and many others.

And one more thing; Mary, the mother of Jesus is one of the greatest women ever to have lived. If I end up in jannah (I pray we all do), without doubt I will receive less reward than her yet she will receive only one husband and I would receive multiple wives... all this means is that either there is a difference in the quality of the spouses so that her one husband is greater than all my spouses combined or that she is given other things that I will not be given and could not even imagine. I personally think it is both
