Now sometimes the thought of my repentance not being accepted makes me feel sad and extremely down.

Brother, be positive, like you said, Allah swt is All merciful, not like a mercy we humans understand, you could sin again and agian and again, and aslong as you came back to Allah swt, he would forgive you !

And remember :
I am to my Slave as he thinks of me.' - bukhari

So if you truly believe that Allah swt is the all merciful, he will be so towards you. But If you give human charecteristics to Allah swt , The Lord of the universe, by thinking, how could He swt forgive me for such big sins, then sadly, it'll probably be so...

Like u titled the post bro, you gotta get a balance: 1) dont belittle your sins 2) but remember that allah swt IS the most merciful!
