May Allah reward the alim for speaking out as he did.
The evildoers and sinners have dominated Egypt under Mubarak for 30 years. They have been given media and cultural leadership.
Islam has been sustained inspite of all the billions in media propaganda for fahsha and fisq.
There are numerous talk shows and variety shows granted to immoral sinful wretches who parade despicable degrading actors, musicians, personalities, one after another, day after day. This is the liberal 'freedom', and these despicable characters are becoming worse each year- with more degrading plastic surgery, more revealing attire, more public sexual portrayals in media, etc. Its a race to the sewers for them.
And if you think about it: not everyone attends prayer at the masjid, but nearly everyone has a TV which they can watch this filth.
Not everyone attends friday khutbah- assuming that it's poignant and relevant- but nearly everyone watches the TV, listens to radio, or reads newspapers.
Who has a greater right to propagate - the evil most despicable lot in the land, or the most knowledgeable, most pious, most upright in the land?
MUSIC is not the primary issue here- the propagation of fisq and fahsha as normal- is the issue. And as the ahadith mention, its the culmination and combination of several things which he (Saaw) expletively forbids in the ahadiath: drinking, music, dancing, mixing.
A song of a man singing praises to Allah is NOT the same as the propagation of such evil as these sewer dwellers with make up portray.
