Semi-urgent questions :) For my personal knowledge, came from class discussion.
Assalamu Alaikum!
As many of you know, I'm still a quite recent revert and I'm still quite new with navigating through Hadith and the Qur'an. I'm studying Religion at my university, so I am taking the Islam class this semester.
In this class, we were watching a documentary video on Asra Nomani. In this video, at one point there is a female-led mixed-congregational prayer. I have a few questions on this.
1.) Is a woman allowed to take the role of imam in general? Typically my friends and I pray side-by-side.
2.) If she IS indeed allowed to take the role of imam, are men allowed to pray behind her?
3.) Are there Hadith and/or Qur'anic verses to back this up?
Also, in the footage, there were multiple women participating in prayer without their head covered.
1.) Are women allowed to pray uncovered?
I was always under the impression it was haraam (especially because this was in mixed company)
2.) Is there Hadith and/or Qur'anic verses to back this up?
Thank you so much in advance! I really appreciate being able to come here as a resource for clarification.
Amna
