Default Definition of Ṣaḥābī?
Is there an agreed-upon definition of what makes somebody a Ṣaḥābī? Obviously they had to be believers. Did they have to be close friends with Rasūl Allāh ﷺ, i.e. they were active in the Muslim community? Or is it enough that they only briefly met the Prophet once?

Apparently there were 50 or 60 prominent companions. But maybe there were "lesser companions" beyond that?
