But until their last day (my uncle and my father) both loved the Ottomans. In my childhood it was common for Muslims to wear the dress particularly the cap of the Ottomans at weddings and even by Ulama on Eid and Jummuah. As Br Umar & Al-Faruqi saw in UK a few weeks ago, I still wear my Ottoman hat with pride.
Interesting post. First of all, what does the Ottaman cap look like?

Secondly, a Bulgarian friend of mine was explaining to me quite passionately how the Ottamans destroyed their country, including forcing people to convert to Islam and burning people who didn't. Were these kind of tactics commonly used by the Ottamans? I can understand Bulgarians may be taught a certain 'version' of history, however, I doubt if it is all false. Any insight?
