i noticed that a lot of tariqas have certain types of uniforms or dress code. that when a new murid joins the gang, he has to dress like them. I always found this to be rather strange. good answer is given by the following brother on the issue, of should we be really following a groups dress or that of the sunnah?

I have heard Shaykh Zulfiqar DB and his mureeds and khulafa wear a particular dress because it is the closest kurta/jubba to what was worn by Rasoolullah

. Shaykh Zulfiqar DB even saw Rasoolullah

in his dream wearing that particular kurta/jubba. It is styled with one button with a loop at the top and the jubba reaches to the middle of the shins.
