i noticed that a lot of tariqas have certain types of uniforms or dress code. that when a new murid joins the gang, he has to dress like them. I always found this to be rather strange. good answer is given by the following brother on the issue, of should we be really following a groups dress or that of the sunnah?

The dress code of evry sufi is that of prophet mohammad(saw) i.e sunnah.if his dress code is contrary to the sunnah, then he isnt a sufi..
