Our village in Gujrat is the same. They think money grows on trees in the UK when in fact the situation is very very tough. We had a relative who had somehow insisted that he could come to the UK marrying my sisters but my sisters were not keen and my parents are not the pushy types which I completely agree with. We then tried to arrange some visa for him due to his father's insistence who said he was willing to pay any amount of money. My father spent a long time going to various court hearings, solicitors etc but they rejected his application. The relatives thereafter refused to speak to my dad and family and forget about ever getting the money back. Many such stories. Many of these guys have such big houses and servants etc which we in the UK can only dream of. Most of the people in the UK have a huge mortgage to pay off (it is haram but this is the reality) so in reality they are in debt for their whole life. These very same relatives you try and get them on their own feet by giving them some farmland to grow something or invest some money with them and many of them will eat up the money. They mostly live on haram money like this. Also brother xs11xs is very right. Many of them will give up everything to come work in the UK. Some of our relatives are very rich but even then they would give up everything to work some crazy hours in the factory in london. My father was once upon a time what you could describe as an indian nationalist and would always rave on about india. In the last 10 years or so he has had many business dealings etc in India and he told me that he can't trust anybody. A guy sells us a house and because the value almost doubles within a short period he wants the house back and makes up many stories. His deal was that he had sold us the house but we had given him extra money to do some refurbishment etc. He does not do the refurbishment but keeps on asking for more money and he also wants us to sell him the house back at the same rate (even though the price has almost doubled). These are just some stories from the top of my head. However at the same time there is no doubt that these guys are denied opportunities and thus behave like this (though this cannot justify such behaviour)
