Default Question on Knowledge
Assalaamu Alaikum,

This is my 1st post here; so I wanted it to be about gaining knowledge.

My question is:
Is it important that when a person reads a book about Islam, that there should be references that refer to the hadith or quran verses? For me it's important since there is more access to information than ever about islam and I wanted to know if I am perhaps incorrect in placing an importance to references?

I have come across some books that do not have any form of referencing; granted that I do not actually check if the source is correct (I presume that the book is reviewed by the publisher) but the lack of references means that the possibility for fabricated information exists (worse is if there is false information and people believe it).

The other thing I wanted to ask is how do people get the arabic greeting in forum posts (and whether there is an "introduce yourself" section)???
