Salam dear brothers & sisters

Is it true that we are permitted to lie if you are preventing a situation
to escalate? For example two of my best mates don't talk to each other anymore because if minor misunderstanding. I tried to resolve the issue but none is willing to back down and be the bigger person. This really saddens me

I have been advised to make up some stuff (basically) to get them both talking to each other. Apparently that's islamically allowed. Is this true?

Please advise a sister
