dont turn up to deen things that are beneficial, but not getting you anywhere. like a 1 hour lecture to raise your iman, could have been 1 hour of memorising qur'an.

How can raising your imaan not get you anywhere? That's an oxymoron. After raising imaan, the natural result is memorizing more Qur'an and doing more hasanaat like learning the laws of Deen etc.
