Walaikum Assalaam brother,

SubhanAllah it's great to see your concern about harm and halal, and you taking the effort to clear this doubt. may Allah guide us all on the straight path.

Alahmdulillah, I have been blessed with this beautiful talent too. I used to sketch faces amd make portraits, and I was very good at making human figures and emotions. When I learnt about hadith that you made a mention of I completely stopped drawing animate pictures. I discarded all my drawings and sketches, believe me it was extremely hard, but nothing comes above the love of Allah swt.

I don't have a scholarly reply, I am sure one of the other learned members will reply, but I will say one thing. The talent that Allah has given you and me and many others like us is a test from Allah swt. So the best approach in my humble opinion would be to stay away from what is forbidden. Even if your intentions are clear the act itself is forbidden. I am not saying you have to give up your hobby, you can still draw and paint inanimate pictures. I make abstract paintings and designs now which give me much more satisfaction, or do islamic calligraphy (which also is very interesting, maybe you should try that). Actually there are many things you can do with your talent. I believe making flowers, mountains etc is allowed but I maybe wrong, flowers don't interest me hence I never bothered

May Allah swt help us increase our imaan and make us among the righteous, ameen.
