Just a few days ago I was thinking to myself, that the masturbation topic was just scratching the surface of the fahsha our Ummah, including appearantly pious brothers/sisters, are indulged in. And how much more filth would come out, if you just digg a little deeper. So, although masturbation is a simply sick disease, Muslims today go even much further with all sorts of Zina. Masturbation, adultery, fornication, prostitution, rape... you name it! But were we not a little naive, when thinking that Muslims or even appearantly pious Muslims can be (or are) engaged in all sorts of grave sins, but not in these type of filthy activities? For example, we all know that interest and backbiting has been told in Ahadith to be far worse than Zina (with your own mother).

No doubt, we should be aware of the pitiful state we all are in, but what exactly are the Islamic guidelines to discuss these delicant issues? Because, as Maulana Tariq Jameel [DB] puts it, "the mizaj of Shari'ah is to hide faults and not to seek & propagate them". But he makes a distinction between habitual sinners and those who "occasionally slip", so I'm not sure. For one, in my opinion the issue should be discussed general and details about certain cases spared to preserve the honour of those brother and sisters, who have become weak and fallen into the traps of Shaytan. They definitely don't do it to give Islam or Islamic symbols a bad name.

So, these are just my thoughts. My ideas about this topic could be wrong. Wallahu 'Alam.
