Today the Imam talked about the importance of Laylatul Qadr. There are different opinions on the date of Laylatul Qadr among the scholars:
1.Last ten days of Ramadan;
2.Odd days of last third of Ramadan;
3.Changes every year;
4. 21st or 23rd; and
4. 27th of Ramadan.
Of this the most agreed upon is the 27th of Ramadan.

Why does the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad has such an offer?

It is due to the short life span of our ummah compared to previous generations, they did Ibadah for hundreds of years.
In Ramadan
1 sunnah= reward of 1 Fard deed
1 Fard= reward of 70 Fard deeds.

On top of that, In Laylatul Qadr
1 night of worship=1000months (83 years and 4months) of worship.
So the Imam stressed not to miss this opportunity.

Some opinions of scholars on, why Laylatul Qadr is most probably on 27th:
1. Suratul Qadr has 30 words and the 27th word is 'SalamunHiya'
2. Laylatul Qadr is 9 words and it repeats itself 3 times in the Ayah(9x3=27)
3. An incident at the time of the Khilafat of Umar Al farook (ra), the Sahabah were sitting around and discussing about Laylatul Qadr. Abdullah ibn Masood (ra) was among them but he was remaining silent. Then Umar (ra) asked him, why are you silent? You have knowledge and only reason for you to be silent is that you are young. Then Abdullah ibn Masood (ra) answered, Allah is One and Allah like odd numbers. Allah created 7 Heavens, 7 earths, 7 days, ... (the Imam mentioned some more, i cant recollect)... So I think Laylatul Qadr is on the 7th night of the Last third of Ramadan (ie 27th). [Bayhaqi] thanks brother for posting such a nice incident .............. keep posting them JAZAKALLAH Khair
