Walaikom assalam,

Depends on who answers the question. The Mufti of Egypt has questionable statements such as theres no difference between Sunnis and Shias. Making fun of Ibn Al Qayyim rahimaho Allah and the Sheikh of Islam Ibn Taymiyah showing very little respect (possibly hatred) for them, saying they were "arrested" for their grave and many mistakes.

He launched attacks against salafis.

He is a sufi from the Ja'fari tareeqa.

When banning niqab for female students at Egyptian Universities during exams became an issue, the filed a law suit at an Egyptian court, which in turn said although they are generally free to wear what they want, they had to rely on Dar al Iftaa' who considered it a "makrooh custom", and they lost the suit.

Im sure they do have knowledge to share though. However, I dont know your background and what you consider reliable, but I personally wouldnt trust him as such, and have no idea of who answers the question of the institution that he leads.
