These paintings were done by shias, who beleive you can paint a picture of someone only after they have died, (not saying Rasoolullah (SAW) is dead)

If you notice, all of the ancient painted depictions of Him SAW are painted in a persian style

Ironicly, the Arbic version of that wikipedia page has no painting anywhere on it. I just wanted to be sure about this, since upto the Saffawi empire, Persia had a much larger Sunni population than it has now, and this has been used as "proof" by Shias that these paintings must have been done by Sunnis.
