i just find it very hard to believe that with all the manpower, cctv, training, technology etc that the government has, they are still seemingly powerless against these rioters and things have escalated to the state that it is.

even in relatively calm demonstrations the police are quick to use water cannons and tear gas and are able to quickly quell any trouble. but with this it seems as though they are holding back on purpose.
