Salam

yes to both of your questions, many prominent ulema from India are Naqshbandi having said that tasawuff is not the only thing they're known for.

these are first names that came to mind:

shaykh zulfiqar ahmed (hafidhahullah): http://www.tasawwuf.org/shaykh/index.htm

Shaykh Husain Abdussattar: http://www.sacredlearning.org/shaykh-husain/category

Shaykh Kamaluddin: can't remember his website

you should listen to the series "fundamentals of tasawuf" to get a better understanding of tasawuf as taught by authentic naqshbandis.

http://www.sacredlearning.org/general-talks/category

search (ctrl+f) fundamentals and download the talks or listen online.

even if you still don't agree with it by the end of the talks you will better understand it and will never again associate nazim al'haqqani with tasawuf.

it is important thatin fiqh one does't follow happy clappy imams, that in aqidah they don't follow happly clappy imams and in tasawuff that they don't follow happy clappy imams. inotherwords seek out the proper naqshbandis, it's not too difficult.
