Is is true that Darood should not be recited after Asr till maghrib i.e for almost 3 hours or so??.

No,Its not ture. you cant pray only Nafal prayer between the asr and maghrib time, except this you can do all o ther ibadahs like doing zikr, reciting durood or Quran.
