i'm curious about this issue with relation to Mullah Zaeef's book "My life with the taliban". In it he says the Chinese ambassador asked whether they would interfere with the situation of muslims in China i.e those wanting independence etc, to which Mullah Zaeef answered that what happens in another country is their business.

I didn't think that would be their answer or was that an act of diplomacy on the part of a fledgling nation i.e The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan?

You see I wondered about the same thing and Mullah Abdussalam Zaeef's reply seemed me a bit "strange" and not what I would have expected..
Anyone knows more about the background?
