sayyidi, what would you recommend (in terms of books which contain the evidences)? also, pardon my ignorance, but what are the "yellow books". shukran!

Works such as al-Hawi al-Kabir by al-Mawardi, Nihayat al-Matlab by al-Juwayni, al-Bahr by al-Ruwyani, al-Bayan by al-'Imrani, Fath al-Aziz by al-Rafi'i and al-Majmu' by al-Nawawi are all excellent works for providing adillah and the wajh al-istidlal from the dalil. Also the works of Sheikh al-Islam Zakariyya al-Ansari such as Sharh al-Bahjah and Asna al-Mutalib are good resources also. If you are looking for hadith evidence alone then Ibn al-Mulaqqin's Tuhfat al-Muhtaj is good.

Yellow books or al-Kutub al-Safra' refer to the classic works such as Jam' al-Jawami', Fath al-Wahhab, Ihya Ulum al-Din etc. They were originally printed on yellowish paper by old Egyptian presses such as Bulaq/Mustafa Babi al-Halabi. Though most of these works have been reprinted they are still referred to as yellow books (or Kitab Kuning here in S.E Asia) indicating towards their classical nature. They usually make up the traditional syllabus in Hadramawt, Hijaz and Indonesia, though in our times they are being replaced by newer works authored by various kulliyah graduates etc. So not only does it refer to a certain type of book but also to a certain methodology in some ways.
