Resently I got told that it was bidah to take part in laylatulbarat, and it was unislamic, and not autentic tradition. is this true?

Within the Hanafi Madhab:

Shaykh Mufti Rasheed Ahmed Ludhyanwi (RA) calls it Bidah
Shaykh (Mufti) Taqi Usmani (RA) considers it permissable to make extra worship anyway you want
