This is quite sad. Since you are living in Saudi Arabia and know some people working in Saudi universities, you may be in a good position to start a thread on the topic " University teaching in an Islamic environment ".

The reason is that some brothers in the West become religious during studying in the university. Many of them become religious during their PhD education. Naturally they look for an opportunity where they can earn money in a good environment .

If a thread has a list of universities in the Muslim countries where sex-segregation is allowed ,or where boys only universities , then it would be beneficial for those religious brothers.

I have heard that KFUPM ( http://www.kfupm.edu.sa/) is a male-only university. Is that true ?

All the universities in Saudia are segregated except the new one in Jeddah KAUST. If you are PHD from a western university you get around 20k Riyals/month basic salary + benefits. If you are Phd from any eastern university then you get around 12-13k SAR/month + benefits.

Theres not alot of work in these universities. You give lectures in English and most of the students don't even understand proper english . I have professor relatives and friends who teach here in universities. I saw their exam papers. They seem like class 5 children . Actually, Saudia is a developing country in terms of studies. It's like opening universities in a village. Saudis don't have an education mindset. Allah has blessed them with alot of money (which is changing very quickly), so they don't need to study. But now, they've realized that education is important if you want to earn some money. But the level of university students here is very low.

In short, if you are a professor here, you enjoy life . You dont have to work hard, you don't have to make notes. Nothing at all. Just enjoy it. It's like teaching 5th grade students. You know, Saudi govt pays the Saudi students to study. Whereas in other countries YOU have to pay the University to study.
