As most of you know, I'm a recent convert. I'm pretty decided to practice Sunni Islam. I've heard that it's okay to attend a Shia Masjid, is this true? Is there anything special we're supposed to do when attending there? Any general commentary would be lovely on this. JazakAllah Khair!
as-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
First, it's not permissible to pray behind a Shia Imam. So if you do go to a Shia "Masjid" and pray behind an Imam there your Salah is not valid (you can pray by yourself in a Shia "Masjid" but not behind a Shia Imam).

Second, (this is just my personal opinion), reverts and laymen should stay away from Shias unless they have a good bit of knowledge about the points of contention between Sunnis and Shias. Shias are very argumentative and will try to mislead anyone who is not secure in their knowledge of Islam.

Shias are not like Sunnis. They're raised from childhood to adulthood to be argumentative and constantly taught about things like Ghadir Khumm, the battle of the Camel, and Karbala. These are issuess which your average Sunni layman does not usually have a good depth of knowledge of, and probably not enough to argue with a Shia.

Additionally, these people are munafiqun (hypocrites) who curse the Sahaba and the mother of the believers (Aisha, RA). They're not a good group to spend time around.

Here's some good videos to explain more about Shias:
