Well those who take dowry ask them, By Allah i didn't get any dowry nor did my father in law give any dowry, cash, not anything. He tried to give me a watch which i declined.

I just want to know here seriously, why do these fathers give dowry in the first place?

Secondly, I want to know.. What's the problem. Why hate dowry so much? Is it Haram? If not, then why frown so much?
