I think though judging from certain brothers' reply, if a youngster to the forum or a newcomer came upon this thread he might get the wrong message and stop sports altogether, and continue messing about with girls and smoking reefer etc..

Sports do provide a way out of pverty for many youth, and even bring one closer to the deen, thats why Im a bit surprised to see a few brothers against sport. I reckon its more of a personal thing (the brothers might not be in pristine physical shape).

I think there is a difference in watching and in playing sports. From my experiences, those who are huge sports fanatics tend to be arm chair sportsmen. They are not the ones out there playing. They sit and watch, know all the stats, can tell you about every player and team, etc.

I agree that playing sports has many benefits. But wasting countless hours simply watching sports on tv..... well, at least offer to fold the laundry and not make it a total waste of time.
