I can say only that from a Middle European perspective it hardly gets any attention, in my opinion. Every day there are reports of dozens of people killed and a few analyses of the political situation, that's that. Politicians here and in the US seem very afraid to touch the subject because a. I guess they prefer "the devil they know to the devil they don't know" ie possible threats to the security of Israel after an regime change and implications on the whole Middle East political system and b. fear of "radical" Muslims taking over, a big fear because they think it will be like the Taliban. The EU did impose some useless sanctions, a military attack like in Lybia is ruled out.
