This is what Hazrat Maulana Rasheed Ahmed Gangohi sb

had to say about him:
' Irshadaat e gangohi ' Page 42.

' Once Hazrat gangohi (rah) said that Shah Nanak whom the sikhs revere so much was infact amongst the Khulafa of Hazrat Shaikh Fariduddin Ganjshakar

and he was a majzub. so his condition remained doubtful. few muslims turned towards him and others seeing his kashf and karamaat began to follow him.'

the sikh granths are full of couplets attributed to Hazrat Shaikh Farid (rah).. so this connection seems valid.
