How does one read tarbiyat al salik and benefit from it-it has a lot of questions and answers and difficult to
apply to oneself?!

Is basair hakim ul ummat good

Do any of the akabir have a text on tasawuf- a self help thing like ihya uloom ad deen?

The question is not directed to me but I thought I should chip in with my 1 cent.

There is a Tasheel of Tarbiyat us Salik out recently. That has eased it up a little bit

But nevertheless it is best read under the tutelage of a Shaykh of Tasawwuf.

As for Basaair, it is as hard as Tarbiyat us Salik because a lot of it is infact direct excerpts from T-u-S.

May be someone can do a tasheel of Basair inshaAllah, that would be awesome.
