any particular reason why you say you are not in favor of it? It seems like a good idea to have a gated community for your family to live near a major metropolitan area...

I don't like gated communities. Because shutting yourself off from others is sort of against the whole point of a community.

In America we used to have communities. You'd go to your neighbor's house, have BBQ, etc. Now we have gated communities where people can hide away from anyone who is different than them (popular with white folk wanting to stay away from black folk).

I would love to see a street with a bunch of muslim families living on it where they could all form a community, but not in some exclusive community tucked away behind walls or bars. Is it a community or a prison?
