I don't think Qaadhi Shawkani was a Dhahiri.

As for Albani , I've heard rumors that either him or some of his students (i.e. Jamiah Salafiyyah wal-Muhasaba) did take some extremely literalist positions, such as believing that the fast could be broken in a dark room.

Imam Shaukani considered himself a Mujtahid.
Albani was not a Dhahiri, but a Salafi.
