In regards to lost madhhabs, I think some credit must be given to the Saudi ulama for their enormous contribution to Hanbali literature. If it was not for the Saudi ulama much of the hanbali legacy would have been lost.

I believe it was the king of Qatar who ordered a certain amount of Hanbali works to be edited and published.
Yeah it's true, A lot of people may not agree with them. But many of the hanbali books are being taught on a daily basis in many Masajid In Saudi.
