This answer though 100% correct does not do justice when trying to explain to a non muslim. You have to speak to the people in a way that they can fathom. Otherwise the answer is seen as emotive in nature devoid of reason. There is always spiritual, moral & logical reason behind relegious practice. Some are apparent and some are not.

I understand what you're saying, bro. I have used both the approaches during my confrontation with Non-Muslims at my workplace. But what I have observed is that often times our logics, no matter how good and convincing we think they are, fail to satiate their minds.

I believe, best practise is to explain them the importance of emulating the Prophets in Islam first, which can then be followed by logical explanations. That is so because even if they fail to see or admit the logic behind the practice, they would never deny emotive aspect of it.
