Isn't the key that we acknowledge, and then keep striving forward to overcome? And meanwhile, while a person is in actuality a true friend of Allah Ta'aala, they won't think it themselves, they'll just see themselves with Tawadhu.

When the Akaabir say things like quoted in the above posts, then I feel it's to give hope that we too, even though we are entrenched in sins, can become Allah lovers, as long as the desire and effort is there.
