I know of someone who was travelling the path of tasawwuf and he reached a stage whereby he would see a beautiful light while praying or sitting in his Sheikhs presence or reading the Qur'an. Eventually he lost control of his mind and all the above was lost in terms of ibaadah. He was told eventually that a Jinn had tampered with his eyes and mind. Is there any reference to such phenomenon made in the writings of the sufis.

Jazak Allah
How does one see the Jinn when the Jinn are not visible?

Why are the presence of lights indications of jinn or angels when lights can be an indication of a precursor to a seizure, or a symptom of hypoxia (lack of oxygen)?

What does it mean: 'lost control of his mind'? Did he have a seizure, or become insane, or loose consciousness?
