Spelling/Pronunciation of words...
As-Salamu Alaykum

It bothers me that when you come across like 95% of non-muslims they don't pronounce/spell words like Qur'an properly. It gets on my nerves.

It is spelled and pronounced Qur'an. Not: Koran or Kuran or Curran!!!!

It is spelled and pronounced Muhammad (PBUH). Not: Mohammet or Mahamad.

It is spelled and pronounced Muslim. Not: Moslem...

It is spelled and pronounced Allah. Not: Alla...

We put a lot of effort in saying the "Bible" or "Jesus" in front of them, why can't they return the favour by pronouncing our words properly?

You know... I think it would be better for me to just say Injil or Isa, then they'll be confused (or maybe angry )

Also the way they say "your Allah"... I mean what the hell? The amount of times I have to say "Pick up a Bible in Arabic and read the first page, you'll see the name Allah at least 10 times. They just never realise that Allah means also means (one) God... salam

i see your point but i think muslims are probably just as guilty of mispronouncing (no offense intended). for example where i'm from Mohammad is often prounounced as "Maamad" or "mekhmad". turks often pronounce it as Mehammat (that's right with a "t") and similarly ahmad for them is ahmet.

depending on how picky we want to be we might even consider that ~90% of pak/indians also mispronounce the name of Allah and say it with a wide mouth (as in Bismillah) rather than with a round mouth (as in Allahuakbar).

i guess depending on where people are in the world and what accents they have it is easier to pronounce things a certain way. also if everyone around them pronounces it a certain way it makes them very accustomed to it.

but i guess with westerners one is more accutely aware of mispronunciations. I also feel the same way as you do about the moslem vs. muslim thing. i've tried to get a lot of white friends to say "Muslim" with a "s" rather than with a "z" dunno why they pronounce it that way when they can so easily say it with an "s" the proper way, oh well to teach their own i guess.
