I think it is really unfair to pick on the old shaykh while we find such stuff with other contemporary sufis.

The positive thing which shaykh did is to produce a murid like Dr. G F Haddad ; So many use the research of Dr. G F Haddad in bashing salafis , wahabis , but they conveniently ignore Dr. GF Haddad's support for Sultan al Awliya Haqqani ; Asharis like Ahbash / Habashis accuse Shaykh Nazim or Shaykh Dagistani of tajseem or anthropomorphism ( worst than what salafis are accused of ) but how come they keep silent on " Muslim Saints and Mystics: Episodes from the Tadhkirat al-Auliya " http://www.scribd.com/search?query=Attar+Arberry
