I just heard a South African (Salafi) speaker giving a practical example of the concept in question: If a Muslim is selling a camera for 500 Rands and a Hindu sells the same for also 500 Rands, then it is
compulsory
on you to buy the camera of the Muslim. Is this correct or would be just
recommended
to buy from the Muslim? The answer to this would eventually shed some light on which status this concept should enjoy in Shariah and the daily life of a Muslim.
@al-Faruqi:
You seem to have engaged yourself in this topic quite extensively.
