one of the funniest/dumbest misconceptions i heard was from a ****te. i asked her about the infallible status of the ahle bayt and the institution of imamate which they created. i asked her if it was true that some twelver ****tes believed that (naudhubillah) the angel Gibreel madce a mistake in giving the message (i.e. the quran) to Muhammad (saws) and that it should have in fact gone to....guess who...

she replied absolutely not, rather it has always been you sunnis who contend that umar should have been the prophet, i couldn't believe what i had just heard.

anyways that's gotta be the dumbest thing i've heard in the west, sad thing is it didn't come from a "non-muslim".
