i do'nt know if its even sunnah to do nikah at the masjid,if it's involved only the man , it's ok to do at the masjid but if the bride have to be there too, i think you should listen to your father.. it's important to have your father's blessing at the start of your nikah.. furthermore if it will be done at your home , your family is able to control the "pardah" issue, so there will be less intermingling of the sexes..Allahu a'lam.
