That was what we did in social studies. Someone with common sense knows that.
Sometimes having this knowledge can come really handy. Whatever you learn, even if it is basics, take it down to your head. some time, some where, some how... one day it will come really handy. Inshallah.

Just like you have a building, it should have a strong foundation or else the building can collapse.

Similarly, if your basics which is the foundation is not strong, then taking further knowledge will be utter useless and any time it can fail.

My physics teacher commanded us to memorize the whole periodic table, and till now I am finding it really useful. I just close my eyes and the whole imagery of periodic table is infront of me. [it may seem weird why did not my chemistry teacher say this but the physics teacher did]

And also knowledge is not what is inside the books, but what you have in your head. In exam you take the knowledge, not the books. So whenever you learn something just take it down in your head.
