I'm just saying clearly you know more than Shaykh Hamza and you should start a dars and scholars far and wide should come sit at your feet so you can enlighten them.

If Hamza Yusuf said we should all walk off a cliff, would you respond in a similar fashion?

I don't need to start a dars. Send the following question to any reputable scholar in the world, they'll give you the same answer until the wind takes away the believers: "Can the maqasid of the Shari'a override the nass?" The answer will be "No." To say "Yes," is Modernism 101, it's Muhammad 'Abduh and early Muhammad Rashid Rida and Sayyid Ahmed Khan and Jamaluddin Afghani.

Ask Mufti Ebrahim Desi, or Mufti Ahmed Sadek Desai (actually, don't ask him, because we know what he'll say). Ask Mufti Zar Wali Khan, or Mufti Taqi Usmani, or Dr. Khalid Mahmud, or anyone. None of them will endorse this idea, because it's repugnant.
