I would also recommend Ascent to Felicity and Ta'leemul Haq. Both were recommended to me by brothers and sisters here on SF, may Allah Ta'aala be pleased with them and reward them all abundantly. Ameen.

I found both Ascent to Felicity and Ta'leemul Haq to be very beneficial, alhamdulillah. Like you, I too was advised to start with the basics - hence the recommendation for the two named here.

I'm not sure if Ascent to Felicity is available free of charge online but, as you likely already know, Ta'leemul Haq is.

[EDIT: The Beginning of Guidance is also very beneficial, alhamdulillah. Not sure if this and even Ascent to Felicity should be studied under the guidance of a teacher... we probably would gain the most benefit by doing so, insha'Allah.]
