IF the question of lowering the USA flag for Whitney Houston's death was nationwide, I would absolutely vote NO. Inasmuch as this issue of national flags being flown at half mast seems to be limited to her home state of NJ, I withdraw any opinion I may hold. This is Whitney Houston's home, how their State chooses to honor her is their choice. IF the citizens of New Jersey object to this choice, I am quite sure they will express themselves. They are well known for their abilities to do so.

I suggest we allow her community to respect Whitney's life and grieve her death as they find appropriate. The state of New Jersey is her home community. I must say when she sang our National Anthem at the 1991 SuperBowl, I have never heard a better presentation of this song in my life. Whitney was human, thus, she was less than perfect....as we all are. I grieve her short life, I appreciate her contributions with her excellent music to our lives. May she RIP. Do with your USA flags what you choose. I'm pretty darn sure she would say the same thing.
