He seemed to be avoiding every question that you asked him. If he actually knew then he would have at least told you the basics of them. And then you tell him that you are ready to listen, but he won't speak up. I wouldn't be surprised if he sits in front of the computer all day watching Rurouni Kenshin and practicing techniques from there cause if he did any sort of swordwork, he would have at least known something.

I guess his point is that there are no "physical basics" in "swordwork"?. Seems to be more "spiritual" than physical. However I don't know where this is leading as this is being spiritual as in "Zen" or more "religious"?. But still, it seems like he is stuck to his side of the story as he is accusing us kendo ppl to just being biased to our side of the story. So in essence, it seems like he became the very thing that he dispises about us.
